Ben Wilson is Associate Professor and Head of the School of Environmental Sciences at Charles Sturt University. He has more than 20 years’ experience in educational management, including course design, development and delivery to a wide range of professionals in protected area management and those wishing to enter the industry. As Head of the School of Environmental Sciences at CSU he is responsible for the education of more than 1000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has particular expertise in the delivery and management of online and distance education. Ben is a member of the International Council for Open and Distance Education, the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication, and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK, awarded for his work in education management and leadership. Involvement with the Steering Group of PALRC fits well with his interests and expertise, in particular the need to support the development of protected area practitioners with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies for effective management and care of protected area systems on land and sea.
