The Collaboration will be offering a wide range of courses, from pre-tertiary vocational training and professional short courses through to masters and PhD programs.
The PALRC courses specifically address selected competences from A Global Register of Competences for Protected Area Practitioners. The competences are organised according to fifteen functions of modern protected area work and four levels of staff, from senior officials to field workers using the categories of:
A. Planning, Management and Administration.
B. Applied Protected Area Management
C. General Personal Competences
Along with the register, the publication includes an overview of competence based approaches to capacity development and a detailed user guide.
A key feature of collaboration courses is the opportunity for students to move between partner institutions, opening up the possibility of studying in diverse socio-cultural contexts, and across polar, temperate, tropical and equatorial environments.
